Frequently asked
The answers we give most often, on delivery, on returns, and on living with a hand-rolled carré. Anything else, write to us and we will answer.
Orders & delivery
When is my order dispatched?
All orders are prepared and handed to the courier within one to two business days of payment confirmation. Orders placed at the weekend or on a public holiday are processed on the next business day.
Can I return a carré if I change my mind?
Yes. You have fourteen days from receiving your order to request a return, provided the carré is unused, its tag is still attached and the original box is undamaged. Silk is a delicate material, so for hygiene reasons we cannot accept a carré that has been worn or that carries perfume.
Does my order arrive gift-wrapped?
The Mlle Ceinté experience begins the moment the parcel is opened. Every order leaves the atelier folded in tissue inside our signature box. If you would like a handwritten note enclosed, say so at checkout and we will add one.
Le soin
Can I wash my carré in the machine?
No. Pure silk is fine and easily damaged. To keep the drape and the lustre for years, have your carré dry cleaned.
Can I iron a creased carré?
Yes, carefully. Set the iron to its lowest heat, or the silk setting, and press from the reverse side with a thin, clean cotton cloth between the iron and the silk. Never hold a steam iron close to the fabric.
La soie
What are your carrés made of? Is it real silk?
Every carré is one hundred per cent pure silk. We use twill, the weave known for its firm hand, its grip and its matt lustre. You will feel the difference the moment you open the box.
What does a hand-rolled hem mean?
It is the clearest mark of a fine carré. The edges are not sewn by machine. Our artisans roll each edge by hand and stitch it one at a time, which is what gives the border its full, rounded weight.
Why twill rather than satin?
Twill has more texture and more body than satin silk. It does not slip at the neck or in the hair, it holds a knot all day, and it takes a shape far more easily.
Are the colours exactly as photographed?
Our photographs are taken in a professional studio to render the colours as truly as possible. Screens vary in calibration, so very slight differences in tone are possible between your device and the carré in your hands.
